Spam filters
Spam filters are becoming much more sophisticated, but they can still be pretty dumb sometimes. They don’t think like humans, they just see certain combinations of words or letters in a certain order and decide it’s spam – they don’t possess the contextual judgements of human beings.
Most spam filters work on a point system, so that the occurrence of just one "spam phrase" probably won't trigger rejection -- except some which the filter considers notorious. For example, SpamAssassin (a well-known spam filter), assigns default points for these top offenders, as follows:

This means you have to think really carefully about wording in both body copy and subject line.
For example, avoid using the word 'specialist' or the word combination 'special is' in subject lines. Spam filters read the letters 'cialis' and block the email under the assumption it is trying to flog dodgy drugs for erectile dysfunction!
Certain words – all of them obvious, so we don’t need to list them here! – are “porn triggers” and should be avoided at all costs!
