Mobile Dos and Don'ts

Jump to: navigation, search

Do

  1. Remember that in many cases, a mobile is a user’s most trusted friend.
  2. Find a function that the user really wants to access over his mobile and deliver it.
  3. Let users interact with each other when possible.
  4. Remember that people have their phones with them even during times when they’re away from their computer.
  5. Remember that in the post-iPhone age the line between a phone and a computer is blurring.
  6. Let the user decide when and how he wants to be talked to over the phone.

Don’t

  1. Send a brand-only message – you’ll need to find ways of engaging people with your brand.
  2. Think that ringtones and patterns are enough to stay top of mind.
  3. Share users’ information unless they ask you to. Privacy is an increasingly important concern.
  4. Forget that just because the user opted-in once, they necessarily want to opt-in every time. Keep asking.
  5. Forget that some people text more than they call, and play games more than they do both.
